WORKING OVERTIME: South Laurel survives 10-inning thriller with 4-3 win over Knox Central

LONDON — In a game that saw both South Laurel and Knox Central combine for five errors, it would be decided thanks to a miscue.
The Cardinals fought back from a 3-2 deficit before scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th after a misplayed grounder as South Laurel managed to prevail, 4-3.
Keaton Creech connected with a ground ball and managed to drive in Tyler Curry to win the game for the Cardinals.
South Laurel has now won four games in a row while improving to 19-9 during the process while the Panthers fall to 12-8.
Waylon Hensley and Keaton Smith got the job done on the mound. Hensley tossed six innings, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out a batter. Smith picked up the win, pitching four scoreless innings while allowing only one hit, and finishing with eight Ks.
Casey Bright got the nod for Knox Central, and impressed, throwing seven innings while allowing six hits and one earned run. He finished with seven strikeouts. Austin Bargo pitched 2 2/3 of an inning, giving up three hits and no earned runs while striking out two batters.
Hunter Bundy delivered a double and a triple for South Laurel while also stealing a base. He scored two runs. Reece Noble delivered three hits while Vince Sizemore had a hit and two RBI. Curry had a hit and scored once while Jack Vaughn also scored a run.
Bargo and Bright had run-scoring hits for Knox Central while Hayden Melton finished with a hit and scored once. Jacob Osborne also had a hit.
