BACK ON A ROLL: Whitley takes a 16-5 victory over Jackson County.

JACKSON CITY — The Whitley County Colonels secured a decisive 16-5 victory against the Generals of Jackson County last Thursday.

Taking an early lead in the first inning, the Whitley County Colonels saw Matthew Wright draw a walk, bringing in one run, followed by Jason Nunley’s single driving in two more, Tyler Rose’s sacrifice fly adding another run, EJ Allen’s walk contributing one more, and Bryce Anderson’s single scoring two runs.

In the third inning, Hunter Wilson’s double and another sacrifice fly by Nunley extended the Varsity Colonels’ advantage.

Despite the Generals scoring five runs in the fifth inning, the Colonels maintained their lead.

Christian Wilson earned the win, pitching four innings with only one hit and no runs allowed, while striking out four and walking two. Clemmons took the loss for the Generals after surrendering 10 runs in two innings.

The Colonels amassed 14 hits, with Anderson and Dee Parker each collecting two. Anderson and Nunley each drove in three runs, while the team showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks. Anderson stole three bases, contributing to the six stolen bases by the Colonels in the game.

Generals’ hitters Noah Collett and Ashton Clemmons each collected two hits, with Clemmons and Davon Seals driving in two runs each. Elijah Thomas led the Generals with two walks.

Looking ahead, the Whitley County Colonels face Great Crossing on Saturday game time for that one is set for 12:00.
