GET BACK DAY: Colonels take a 9-1 payback victory over Great Crossing

Whitley County Colonels secured a dominant 9-1 victory over Great Crossing Varsity Warhawks on Saturday.

Taking an early lead in the bottom of the first inning, EJ Allen started the game off with a double followed by Hunter Wilson’s double that brought in two runs, followed by Matthew Wright’s groundout and an error, each contributing to another run.

The Colonels extended their lead further in the bottom of the third inning with Jason Nunley’s single and Chris Cureton’s sacrifice fly, each driving in a run.

In the sixth inning, Bryce Anderson’s home run to left field added two more runs to Whitley County’s tally.

EJ Allen delivered an impressive performance on the mound for the Varsity Colonels, pitching six and one-third innings, allowing just three hits and one unearned run, while striking out two and walking none.

Whitley County amassed nine hits in the game, with Wilson leading the charge with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate. Anderson, Wilson, and Nunley each drove in two runs, while RJ Osborne collected two hits in three at-bats.
