CORBIN — Corbin pitcher Jeremiah Gilbert turned heads during his pitching effort against Southwestern on Tuesday.
Gilbert logged a complete game while scattering four hits and only one run during the Redhounds’ 5-1 win over the Warriors. He also struck out 10 batters.
Southwestern struck quick with a run in the top of the first inning before Corbin (21-8) answered with four runs in the fourth inning. The Redhounds put the game away with another run in the fifth inning.
“Jeremiah being back and healthy for us has been huge,” Corbin coach Cody Philpot said. “He threw really well again tonight and gave us a chance to go win the game.”
Mikey Neal led the way for Corbin with a hit and two RBI while Walker Landrum finished with two hits and two runs scored. Bradric Helton had two hits while Kade Elam finished with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. Gilbert and Lucas Tarvin added a hit apiece while Cam Estep drove in a run. Noah Cima also scored in the win.
