SOMERSET — Carly Mink’s South Laurel Lady Cardinals hung tough before dropping a 2-1 decision to Pulaski County on Tuesday.
The loss snapped South Laurel’s four-game win streak while the Lady Cardinals (23-7) are 11-2 during their past 13 games.
Both teams scored a run apiece in the first inning g while the Lady Maroons pushed across the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the third inning.
South Laurel had no answer for Pulaski County pitcher Brooklyn Thomas, who limited the Lady Cardinals to only two hits while striking out 15 batters.
Bailey Frazier led South Laurel at the plate with a run-scoring hit while Morgan Jackson had a hit and scored once.
Kenzie Williams took the loss, tossing six innings while allowing six hits and one earned run. She struck out four batters.
