Lady Cardinals can’t recover from early deficit, fall to Mercer County, 5-2

HARRODSBURG — South Laurel dropped consecutive games for the first time this season after falling 5-2 to Mercer County on Thursday.

The Lady Cardinals fell behind 5-0 after three innings of play and never recovered, falling to 23-8 during the process.

Kenzie Williams took the loss but pitched well, allowing six hits and only one earned runs while striking out eight batters.

South Laurel committed three errors which led to four unearned runs.

Skye Lawson led the Lady Cardinals with two hits and an RBI while Morgan Jackson and Bailey Frazier finished with a hit and a run scored apiece. Addison Baker and Audrey Likins finished with a hit apiece.

South Laurel will be off until Monday, finishing regular season play with three consecutive home games.
