CORBIN — Nikki Hendrix’s Lynn Camp Lady Wildcats are finishing regular season play on a high note.
With only four regular season games remaining, Lynn Camp is riding a season-best five-game win streak after a convincing 16-1 win over Berea on Friday.
“It was a good team win tonight, everyone contributed,” Hendrix said. “Jorja Carnes pitched another great game, allowing only allowing one hit. She was big at the plate too, with a triple and a double. Everyone on the team got a base hit and stayed focused the entire time. I’m glad we were able to come out and play well, despite only having played one night this week.
“I appreciate the crowd coming out to support the girls tonight, the bleachers were full,” she added. “We play some really good teams next week and I’m hoping that will prepare us for district play.”
The Lady Wildcats (19-11) took control of the game early against the Lady Pirates, scoring six runs in the first inning before adding four more runs in the second inning to build a 10-0 lead.
Jorja Carnes led the way in the circle and at the plate, recording her 14th win of the season while connecting with a double, and a triple along with driving in three runs during her first two at-bats.
Chelsea Hendrickson was swinging a hit bat early, too. She connected with two hits in her first two at-bats while driving in two runs and scoring g once. Laurel Partin’s two-run double also played a big part in Lynn Camp taking control of the game early.
The Lady Wildcats will be back in action Monday with hopes of sweeping a doubleheader against Bell County.
