WILLIAMSBURG — The struggles continued for the Whitley County Lady Colonels on Friday.
Whitley County fell to 14-17 while losing its fifth game in a row after dropping a 17-7 decision to visiting Southwestern on Friday.
The Lady Colonels fell behind 12-0 before scoring their first run in the bottom of the third.
The Lady Warriors’ lead grew to 14-1 in the top of the fifth inning before Whitley County answered with four runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut their deficit to 14-5.
But Southwestern added three runs in the top of the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.
Amber Brown led the Lady Colonels with two hits, three RBI, and two runs scored while Cambree Price finished with two hits and two runs scored. Jayden Barton also had two hits while Hallie Huddleston finished with a hit and an RBI. Morgan Huddleston finished with a hit and scored once while Kara Canada and Adalee Johnson finished with a hit apiece.
Caylee Singleton started the game in the pitcher’s circle, tossing 1 1/3 of an inning while allowing seven hits and five earned runs. Canada threw 1 2/3 of an inning, giving up three hits and no earned runs while Johnson pitched 2 2/3 of an inning while surrendering five hits and five earned runs.
