L4 SECURITY 13TH REGION MEDIA NETWORK BOYS’ SOCCER WEEK THREE RANKINGS: Corbin still holds No. 1 ranking while North Laurel solidifies No. 2 spot  

1. Corbin (4-5 overall)

The Redhounds might not have the prettiest record in the region but they’ve played one heck of a slate, so we are giving them the Beni fit of the doubt.

Wins over Perry Central (4-0), Whitley County (8-0), Wayne County (5-0), and Southwestern (6-1) solidified Corbin’s spot at the top of the Rea kings despite falling to Pulaski County last week, 4-3.

One of the Redhounds’ main strengths is depth. They are had nine different players score this season. Gabe Cima leads Corbin with six goals, and four assists while Sheel Patel has four goals and Braydon Van has two goals, and three assists.

2. North Laurel (6-2-1)

The Jaguars are off to their best start in over five years, and are very close to taking over the top spot in the rankings.

North Laurel is currently riding a five game win streak which included victories over Whitley County (8-5), Garrard County (1-0), and Lincoln County (2-0) last week.

Eight different players have scored for the Jaguars, as Jaxon Jacobs leads North Laurel with 12 goals and two assists. Jackson McCowan has eight goals and two assists while Tanner Broyles has seven goals, and a team-best 12 assists. Seth Miller has four goals and six assists while Zachary Crouch has two goals and two assists. Grant Abner has rallied a goal this season while dishing out six assists.

Keeper Aydn Ebersole has four shutouts this season along with 60 saves.

3. South Laurel (3-3-2)

The Cardinals continue to improve after each game. They’ve got a big week coming up that allows them to show just how much they have improved with games against Garrard County, North Laurel, and Taylor County 

Liam Zik has totaled four goals and two assists for the Cardinals while Eli Buckles has three goals, and three assists. 

4. Whitley County (4-4)

The Colonels have struggled a bit since starting with a 3-1 mark. They snapped a two-game losing skid this past week by defeating Middlesboro, 10-1, but then dropped a 6-1 decision to Pulaski County.

The one-two punch of Matthew Sawyers, and Johnny Parra, have combined to score 34 of Whitley County’s 53 goals.

Sawyers has 19 goals and seven assists while Parra has totaled 15 goals and 12 assists. Jacob Senters has six goals, and nine assists while Brady Moses has five goals, and three assists.

5. Harlan County (3-3-2)

The Black Bears knocked off Knox Central, 4-1, last week before finishing with a 2-2 draw against Letcher Central.

Ray Splawn leads Harlan County with nine goals while Cayden Shanks has five goals.
