Monhollen turns in a gem as Lady Jaguars cruise to 10-0 win

LONDON — Tessa Monhollen turned in a gem in the pitcher’s circle, allowing one hit while striking out nine batters during North Laurel’s 10-0 win over Leslie County on Monday.

The game was close for three innings with the Lady Jaguars (21-8) holding a 1-0 lead until North Laurel exploded for five runs in the bottom of the fourth and four runs in the bottom of the fifth.

“We had senior night tonight honoring our lone senior Braylee Fawbush,” North Laurel  coach Chris Edwards said. “She deserved all the recognition she got tonight. She is one of the best catchers around and she will be hard to replace.

“As for the game, we had a bit of a slow start before we started clicking,” he added. “Once we got going we put some good swings on the ball. A lot of hits and multiple hits from Saige McClure, Ellie Adams, Bella Finley and Katie Keen. Tessa threw another one hitter. Another good game by her and again only one defensive error. Those are numbers we will always take. Big road game tomorrow at Boyle. Just a few games left before the post season starts. Go Jags.”

Katie Keen connected with two triples in the win while driving in two runs and scoring twice. Ellie Adams had two hits and an RBI while Saige McClure and Bella Finley finished with two hits and a run scored apiece. Bella Sizemore recorded a run-scoring hit and scored once while Baylee Fawbush had a hit and an RBI. Morgan Edwards collected a hit, drove in two runs and scored twice while Emma Carl finished with a hit and a run scored. Katie Adams drove in a run and scored twice.
