BARBOURVILLE — Angela Singleton’s Whitley County Lady Colonels needed some momentum heading into next week’s postseason play, and they’re got just that during their 8-2 win over Knox Central.
The six-run victory improved the Lady Colonels to 15-17 while snapping a five-game losing skid in the process.
“Tonight was a good win for the girls,” Whitley County coach Angela Singleton said. “They were putting the ball in play with solid contact and doing the little things well tonight. When we got girls on they were able to successfully move them around. Our pitching and defense was solid tonight.”
Whitley County scored a run in the first inning and continued to build to its lead with three runs in the third inning, two runs in the fourth inning, and a run in the fifth inning before the Lady Panthers finally scored.
Morgan Huddleston came up big at the plate with two hits, three RBI, and one run scored while Amber Brown finished with two hits and two runs scored. Cambree Price also delivered two hits while driving in a run and scoring once. Payton Hurst and Hallie Huddleston also drove in runs in the win.
