CORBIN — The 13th Region’s No. 2 and No. 3 ranked teams hooked up in a battle on Monday with Cody Philpot’s Corbin Redhounds pulling off a 4-0 win over red-hot North Laurel.
The Redhounds (23-10) recorded their second consecutive shutout while putting an end to the Jaguars’ (18-15) five game win streak.
Jeremiah Gilbert brought his ‘A’ game to the mound, limiting North Laurel to only one hit while
Tossing a complete game shut out. He also recorded eight strikeouts.
Mikey Neal, and Cam Estep connected with run scoring hits while Kade Elam drove in a run. Noah Cima led Corbin with two hits and a run scored while Clayton Botner and Lucas Tarvin finished with a hit apiece.
“This senior class deserved to go out with a win on this field,” Philpot said. “A fantastic group of young men that have done a lot to help build up this program. Watching these guys grow into young men is the most rewarding part of this job.”
Cam Hinkle delivered North Laurel’s lone hit while Dylan Hurley took the loss, pitching six innings while giving up six hits and four earned runs. Hurley also struck out two batters.
