Six Lady Colonel errors lead to four unearned runs during 6-2 loss to Wayne County 

WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County had hopes of stringing together some wins before postseason play begins next week, but suffered a 6-3 setback at home to Wayne County.

The Lady Colonels held a 2-1 edge after one inning of play, but the Lady Cardinals scored two runs in both the second and third innings to take a commanding 5-1 edge.

Wayne County added an insurance run in the sixth inning while Whitley County managed to push only one run across in the seventh inning.

The Lady Colonels managed only four hits in the loss while committing six errors that led to four unearned runs.

Hallie Huddleston delivered a run scoring hit while Amber Brown, Morgan Huddleston, and Jayden Barton finished with a hit apiece.

Kara Canada tossed two innings, allowing five hits and one earned run while Caylee Singleton struck out five batters in five innings of work. She also gave up three hits and one earned run.
