Colonels’ win streak reaches seven games with nine-inning victory over Pulaski County

SOMERSET — It took nine innings but the Whitley County Colonels got the job done, defeating Pulaski County, 3-2, on Monday to run their win streak to seven games.

A run-scoring hit in the top of the ninth proved to be enough, allowing Whitley County to run its win streak to seven games while improving to 24-7 during the process.

“Good to get another win against a good Pulaski County team,” Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. “Proud of our pitchers. Been fun to watch our young arms grow this season. They competed their guts out. We’re looking forward to postseason.”

EJ Allen led the Colonels with two hits and two runs scored while Osborne finished with a hit and an RBI while Tyler Rose added a hit. Hunter Wilson drove in a run while Matthew Wright scored a run.

Shope received solid pitching as Christian Wilson tossed 4 1/3 of scoreless innings while allowing three hits and finishing with three strikeouts. Kip Allen pitched 1 2/3 of an inning, giving up a hit and one earned run while striking out three batters. Trey Walton received the win, tossing three scoreless innings while allowing no hits and finishing with four Ks.
