LONDON — If you’re a South Laurel Cardinal fan, you’ve got to be happy with the way the Cardinals are playing heading into next week’s 50th District Tournament.
South Laurel received another stellar hitting and pitching efforts during Thursday’s 12-2 win over Southwestern that saw the Cardinals improve to 23-11.
Coach Trey Smith was more than happy with his team’s effort against the Warriors.
“I think right now our offense is really doing well,” he said. “We are starting to see the ball better and have improved with our approach, and the hits have started to pile up.”
He was also pleased with his team’s pitching and defensive play.
“I thought Will and Waylon pitched great tonight,” he said. “Our pitching and defense have been consistent all year long. I told the boys last night that we’ve had good seasons, but this is a memorable one. With the field dedication, and the 13 wins is a high mark since I started coaching. I’m proud of them.”
