CORBIN — Just a few weeks ago, the Corbin Lady Redhounds were struggling to get a win, but what a difference a couple of weeks make.
Crystal Stidham’s squad looks like a totally different team than the one that was eight games under .500.
Corbin has reeled off 10 consecutive wins since then, including Thursday’s 12-0 shutout victory over Wayne County.
“Great win for my Lady Redhounds tonight,” Corbin coach Crystal Stidham said. “Kallie Housley went to work in the circle, striking out six in her five innings of work and had great defense behind her to take care of business. Danni Foley came in and pitched an inning to wrap up the game, getting another K and let the defense work.
“My ladies were very poised and patient at the plate tonight, racking up 10 walks and their patience paid off with timely hits to grab five runs in the first inning, three in the second and another in the third, to get us up 9-0,” she added. “In the sixth inning, we were able to load the bases and Danni Foley had a big hit in the right-center gap to score three and get us the 12-0 win. Team ball is where it’s at and that’s what my ladies are doing, picking each other up and playing great team ball.
“Proud of them,” Stidham continued. “We had 11 hits overall, with Danni Foley, Bailey Stewart, Averi Croley, and Raegan Walker each with doubles. Danni and Bailey each had three hits, Averi Croley had two hits, and Kallie Housley, Alana Stidham, and Raegan Walker each collected a hit a piece. Ladies with RBI due to hits or patience at the plate were Danni with three, Bailey, Averi, Raegan Walker and Raegan Hinkle each had a couple RBI a piece. This is what I love to do and that’s get to talk about multiple players — the whole team. Just so proud. Just a great win for them. Go Lady Redhounds.”
Kallie Housley got the win and lasted five innings, allowing only two hits and no earned runs while striking out six batters. Danni Foley pitched one inning, allowing only one hit.
Offensively, Corbin (16-14) was just as good.
The Lady Redhounds tallied 11 hits with four of those going for doubles.
Foley was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored while Bailey Stewart finished 3-for/4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Averi Croley connected with two hits while driving in a pair of runs and scoring once. Housley finished with a hit and scored twice while Morgan Hicks finished with a run scored. Raegan Walker had a hit, two RBI, and two runs scored while Raegan Hinkle finished with two RBI. Abi Beller drove in a run while Alana Stidham finished with a hit and scored once.
