Baylee Berry connects with two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th to give Jackson County 3-2 win over Clay County

MCKEE — Baylee Berry’s third home run of the season turned out to be the biggest yet.

With Jackson County staring at a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the 11th, Berry connected on a 1-0 offering from Clay County pitcher Abby Bowling, and sent the pitch over the center field fence, delivering a game-winning two-run home run.

The game was scoreless for eight innings until the Lady Tigers pushed across a run in the top of the ninth inning to take a short-lived 1-0 lead.

Jackson County tied the game at one apiece in the bottom of the ninth before Clay County pushed across a run in the top of the 11th.

Berry led the Lady Generals at the plate with three hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Kylie Moore drove in Jackson County’s other run.

Candice Williams picked up the win, tossing 11 innings while allowing 10 hits and one earned run. She struck out nine batters.

Bowling tossed 10 innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs. She struck out 13 batters.
