CORBIN — Lynn Camp is peaking at the right time.
The Lady Wildcats capture their season-best seventh win in a row on Tuesday by upending Barbourville, 11-1, to earn a spot in next week’s 13th Region Fastpitch Tournament.
Lynn Camp (22-11) dominated throughout its 51st District semifinal matchup with the Lady Tigers, scoring at least one run in all four innings.
Nikki Hendrix’s squad led 3-0 after the first inning, 7-1 at the end of the second inning, 8-1 after three innings of play before pushing across three runs in the fourth inning to secure the win.
Lynn Camp collected 15 hits with five of those going for extra base hits.
“We were able to get a lead in the first inning and we continued to build off that,” Hendrix said. “Every player in the lineup got at least one hit and there were several that had two or more. We made some really good defensive plays in the field and were able to only hold them to one run. “Overall, we played a good game considering this is the first game we had played in eight days,” she added. “Hopefully, we can build off this momentum and have a really great game tomorrow. I want to thank all the fans who came out supported us tonight because it was hot.”
Jorja Carnes put on a show at the plate and in the pitcher’s circle. She went 3-for-3 with a run scored while pitching five innings, allowing three hits and no earned runs. She also had three strikeouts.
Allison Messer connected with two hits while driving in three RBI. Lauren Partin finished with two hits, two RBI, and two runs scored while Chelsea Hendrickson collected two hits, an RBI and scored twice. Charity Steele delivered two hits and drove in a run and scored twice while Lily Henize finished with a hit and scored twice. Cambree Prewitt delivered a hit and two RBI while Julie Moore finished with a hit and a run scored. Emma Burnette finished with a hit and an RBI.
Barbourville (4-19) Bailee Branstutter, who finished with a hit and an RBI. Lindsey Thomas and Aubrey Richardson collected a hit apiece while Allie Gibbs scored a run.
