Lady Cardinals cruise past Williamsburg with 15-0 win 

WILLIAMSBURG — The defending 13th Region champion South Laurel Lady Cardinals took care of business against Williamsburg during Tuesday’s semifinal matchup of the 50th District Fastpitch Tournament.

South Laurel captured its 13th Region-best 26th win by shutting out the Lady Yellow Jackets, 15-0, in three innings while also earning its spot in next week’s regional tournament.

“It’s all about surviving and advancing this time of year and it was a great team win tonight,” South Laurel coach Carly Mink said. “We’ve continued to focus on just being the best version of ourselves and getting prepared for the post season. We have been preparing for this all season and I have confidence that we will come ready to play each night during the postseason.”

The Lady Cardinals dominated from the get-go, scoring two runs in the first inning before adding six runs in the second inning and seven runs in the third inning.

Kenzie Williams recorded a perfect game, allowing no runs, no hits, and no walks while striking out six batters, improving to 18-4.

Ryleigh Bretz led the way at the plate with two hits, four RBI and two runs scored while Williams delivered a hit and three RBI. Aubrey Likins went 2-for-2 with one RBI, and two runs scored while Skye Lawson was 2-for-3 with two RBI, and one run scored. Bailey Frazier finished with a hit, two RBI and two runs scored while Addison Baker scored three times. Morgan Jackson scored two runs while Amara Horn scored a run, and Emma Rice drove in a run.
