North Laurel captured its sixth consecutive win after scoring four unanswered goals to be visiting Southwestern on Tuesday, 4-1.
“We started slow tonight and were down a couple of starting defenders tonight, but players stepped up and helped out which allowed us to come away with the victory tonight,” North Laurel coach David Broyles said. “We had a mistake on defense that led to a southwestern goal to put us down 1-0 fairly early, but we were able to recover when Jaxon Jacobs found Grant Abner to get us even at 1-1. It stayed that way until the half.
“We were able to come out with better focus in the second half and quickly made it 2-1 when Zach Crouch found Tanner Broyles,” he added. “Jackson McCowan made it 3-0 a few minutes later and Tanner Broyles found Jaxon Jacobs to bring the final to 4-1. I felt we controlled the game with our midfield and really shared the ball well tonight.”
The Warriors managed to get on the scoreboard first, as Jack Wilson’s goal with 25:27 remaining in the first half gave Southwestern a 1-0 lead.
North Laurel responded, though, as Grant Abner’s goal during the 19th minute tied the game at one apiece.
Tanner Broyles’ goal two minutes into the second half opened the floor gates for North Laurel.
His goal gave the Jaguars a 2-1 lead while Jackson McCowan’s goal during the 53rd minute increased North Laurel’s advantage to 3-1.
Jaxon Jacob’s goal during the 65th minute wrapped up the scoring for the Jaguars, as North Laurel pulled out a four-goal victory.
The Jaguars will be back in action Thursday at home against South Laurel.
