CORBIN — It looked as if the Corbin Lady Redhounds were gonna cruise to a first round win during Tuesday’s 13th Region Fastpitch Tournament, but things suddenly changed in the third inning.
Crystal Stidham’s squad held a 3-0 advantage when Pineville stormed back with three runs in the top of the third to tie the game at three apiece.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the fifth when Raegan Walker connected with a run-scoring double that scored Morgan Hicks while giving Corbin the lead for good.
Danni Foley took care of business during the final two innings to lock up the Lady Redhounds’ 4-3 win over the Lady Mountain Lions.
“What a game — well, it is region,” Stidham said. “It was a pitcher’s duel with Danni Foley and Rachel Howard tonight. We knew going in Rachel was going to bring it, she’s a great pitcher. She and Danni went head to head. I am so proud of D! She had 15 Ks on the night.
“Kallie Housley and Raegan Walker came up huge for us hitting,” she added. “Kallie had a couple of triples and an RBI, and Raegan Walker had two doubles and collected three RBI. Those two came up big when we were able to get runners on. Danni Foley picked up a walk, and Kennedie Guiher got a hit and a walk and they were on base when Kallie and Raegan got their hits — just timely scoring. A win is a win but boy this one was sure a game. Proud of my girls, we will regroup and set our focus on North Laurel and what we need to do to get the next win. Let’s Go Lady Redhounds.”
Walker finished with a hit, and three RBI while Kallie Housley connected with two triples and finished with an RBI and one run scored. Kennedie Guiher and Raegan Hinkle finished with a hit apiece while Hicks and Abi Beller finished with a run scored apiece.
