On behalf of Harlan County Public Schools Superintendent Brent Roark and Harlan County High School Principal Kathy Napier, we are proud and honored today to name Mr. Gary Greer as the third Head Girls’ Basketball Coach in our school’s history. Coach Greer has served the Harlan County Public Schools in multiple roles for nearly 20 years, including as an Assistant Boys Coach for the past 15 seasons. He was also very instrumental in helping the Black Bears make a run to the State Championship Team last year. Coach Greer came highly recommended by his peers in the coaching community and a wealth of current and former players associated with HCHS Basketball. Coach Greer compelled the entire administration with his vision of unity and working together to reach our championship goals. The Administration of the Harlan County Schools has the utmost respect for Coach Greer, we look forward to him having a long tenure as the Head Coach of the Harlan County High School Girls Basketball Program, and we want to formally welcome him, Heather, Blake, and Luke to the Black Bear Family! He said he is excited about the tremendous opportunity to coach the Lady Bears.
