David Broyles’ North Laurel Jaguars are accomplishing some rare feats this season.
The Jaguars won their second consecutive game against South Laurel on Tuesday with a 3-0 decision which marks the first time in eight years North Laurel accomplished the feat of being its cross-town counterparts in back-to-back matchups.
Broyles’ squad also won its seventh game in a row which is the most by a Jaguar boys’ soccer team since 2012 when they rolled off eight straight victories.
Both teams’ defenses came out strong during the first half. No one found the back of the net for the first 14 minutes until North Laurel’s Jackson McCowan scored during the 15th minute to give the Jaguars an early, 1-0, advantage.
Jaxon Jacobs added a goal two minutes later, allowing North Laurel’s lead to grow to, 2-0.
Both teams went back into defensive mode during the final 25 minutes of the first half as the Jaguars continued to hold a two-goal advantage at halftime.
Tanner Broyles added a goal during the final minutes of the game to wrapup the win for North Laurel.
The Jaguars (8-2-1 overall, 3-0 against 49th District opponents) will be on the road Monday against Pulaski County while South Laurel (3-5-2, 0-1) will host Taylor County at noon on Saturday.
