CORBIN — Corbin’s new football coach, Luke Salmons, has been preparing his Redhounds for the upcoming season for a while now.
Corbin will look to continue its success that has led to a 46-5 mark since 2020, district and region championships along with appearances in the Class 4A State finals.
Salmons takes over a Redhound squad that hopes to continue its recent success.
“Things have been great,” Salmons said. “The players, coaches and community are outstanding. Our Goal at Corbin is to put the best product on the field every Friday night. Play hard, Play tough, and play together. Our players and coaches have worked hard daily to be the best. We understand the tradition, the expectations, and what Corbin represents to so many. We try to get better every single day. We embrace the expectations and understand what we want to accomplish this season.”
Salmons also mentioned he likes the way his players have adjusted to him and his assistant coaches.
“I feel like the kids have adjusted well,he said. “The biggest thing for me is developing relationships with the kids and coaches and everyday it gets better. We have great kids and coaches that love football and work at a high level.”
One thing a Salmons-coached team will be is game-ready that is expecting to make another deep run once playoffs begin.
“Our players will be in great shape, our players will be tough and play together with a purpose of representing Corbin at the highest level,” he said. “On offense, we will be running the AIR option and also on defense, we will be multiple-based from an even front. Our expectations for this years team is to win every game and to be playing at our highest level in November and December.”
