CORBIN — The Corbin Lady Redhounds showed much improvement from last season’s three-win squad but couldn’t come up with the victory during their season-opener against Wayne County.
The two teams battled throughout the game before the Lady Cardinals broke a scoreless tie with three minutes remaining in regulation while handing Corbin a 1-0 loss during the process.
The Lady Redhounds will now hit the road for five games away from home. They won’t be back in action at home until Monday, Sept. 16
Even though with the loss, Goins is believed her team can make a run at both the district and region crowns this fall.
“We have the potential to compete for the district and region titles this season,” she said. “There is a lot of talent throughout our district and region, so it will not be an easy road, but I think we are capable. It will challenging but I believe we are up for the task.”
