WILLIAMSBURG — After rolling to consecutive wins to begin the season, outscoring their opponents 13-0 during the process, the Whitley County Colonels suffered their first loss on Monday, losing to Wayne County, 8-0.
The Colonels (2-1) never got on track against the Cardinals, giving up three goals during the game’s first six minutes.
Wayne County (3-0) added four more goals to take a commanding 7-0 advantage entering halftime.
Whitley County hung tough in the second half before allowing the game’s final goal at the 60:48 mark. The Cardinals have now outscored their opponents, 20-1, this season.
Michael Branham’s Colonels will be back in action Thursday at on the road against Pulaski County.
