Lady Colonels let one slip away with 4-2 loss to Pulaski County

SOMERSET — Whitley County’s girls’ soccer coach Michael Sawyers felt his team did everything it needed to do to defeat Pulaski County on Tuesday, but the Lady Colonels just couldn’t come away with the win.

The Lady Maroons did just enough to hand Whitley County a 4-2 loss.

“The girls fought hard but we had some errors and Pulaski capitalized on them,” Sawyers said. “I feel like we let this one slip away.”

Whitley County’s record now stands at 0-2 and Sawyers’ squad will be back in action next Tuesday in a key 49th District home game against North Laurel.

Against Pulaski County, Autumn Sawyers scored both of her team’s goals while Briliegh Logan and Aliya Nugent each had an assist.
