BARBOURVILLE — The defending 13th Region champion Whitley County Lady Colonels won their season-opener over Knox Central in a three-set shutout.
The Lady Colonels captured a 25-12 win in the first set, followed by a 25-9 victory in the second set before recording a 25-16 win in the third set.
“Good way to start the season,” Whitley County coach David Halcomb said. “I was pleased with how we played. Addison Siler led us with 10 kills and had some really nice plays. Her and our setter, Jonna Rice, are starting to get their timing down and that’s great to see. Jonna had 19 assists for the match.
“I’m very pleased with the progression of Aubree Clemens,” he added. “She can be a dominant force for us on the net and she had three blocks tonight. Kirra Vance had four aces and served very well. This is a fun team and great to get a win under our belt to start the season.”
