WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County continues to pick up where it left off in last season’s 13th Region Tournament by dominating another regional opponent on Thursday.
The Lady Colonels cruised to a three-set victory over Jackson County while improving to 2-0 during the process.
“I was really impressed with our crowd tonight,” Whitley County coach David Halcomb said. “It’s pleasing to me to know our fans have been anticipating the start of this season. Our girls came out ready to play and thought we played well. There’s still some things we need to work on, but the girls’ attitudes are good and are celebrating one another’s successes on the court.
“I thought our serving was especially good tonight, too,” he added. “We are getting better each day and look forward to taking on a very good North Laurel team on Monday. It will be a challenge, but I think our team will be ready.”
Whitley County captured a 25-15 win in the first set before holding on to a 25-14 edge in the second set. The Lady Colonels put the match away with a 25-10 victory in the third set.
