Red-hot Jaguars make program history by defeating Corbin three times in a row for the first time

LONDON — For the first time in North Laurel boys’ soccer program history, the Jaguars have reeled off three consecutive wins against 49th District for Corbin.

The Jaguars scored three first half goals which were good enough to help North Laurel prevail, 3-1, while capturing its fourth win in a row.

David Broyles squad is now 4-2 overall, and 1-0 against 49th District opponents while the Redhounds, who were coming off a Class 2A, Section 7 championship win over Whitley County just the day before, fell to 2-5.

“I felt we came out aggressive tonight and controlled most of the game, but we didn’t possess the ball like I would expect us to,” Broyles said. “I felt we were a little indecisive with our passes and it got us into trouble at times. I give credit to Corbin, they planned on counter attacking and they did well with that. Once again, I felt our set pieces and corners were a strength for us again tonight. We scored off one and had several that just went wide or hit the post. It is good to get that first district win under our belt, but we have to keep improving if we want to repeat this year.”

Corbin struck first to take a 1-0 lead before North Laurel rallied to score three goals in the first half.

Sawyer Miller and Reilly Stuber each scored while also recording an own goal by Corbin.
