HARLAN — Corbin wasted no time in advancing to the Class 2A, Section 7 Tournament by handing Harlan County an 8-0 loss on Tuesday.
The Lady Redhounds scored early and often in the win, improving to 2-6 in the process while snapping a two-game losing skid during the process.
“We started out a little slow but scored our first goal about 12 minutes in and we picked it up after that,” Corbin coach Hannah Goins said. “It was good to finally get some offense going. Our ball movement looked a lot better tonight. We were able to possess, and once we calmed we were able to create opportunities to find the back of the net.
“It felt good to finally we get a win,” she added. “We’ve been playing decent but have been struggling to get going offensively. I think our game tonight showed us that we are capable of doing that. It definitely boosted our confidence going forward.”
Emely Colchado led Corbin with three goals while finishing with two assists. Jersey Roberson added two goals while Hadley Elmore, Suzy Gilbert and Katie Morton scored one goal apiece. Elmore, Morton, Annealise Smith, and Jayden Hamilton each finished with an assist apiece.
