MOUNT STERLING — The Whitley County Lady Colonels dropped their second game in a row on Tuesday, but put up a fight before falling to Montgomery County in three sets, 25-8, 26-24, and 25-18.
“Montgomery County has a very good volleyball team and I knew it was going to be a challenge in a hostile environment,” Whitley County coach David Halcomb said. “We spent a lot of time yesterday at practice discussing things that we have to get right with our team. We kind of had a carryover from Saturday in the first set, just really did things to hurt ourselves and didn’t give us a chance. Our serve receive has been very poor, but got better in the second set.
“I think we grew up a little tonight and these type matches will make us better moving forward,” he added. “We could have laid down after the first set, but the girls got it together and played much better the second and third sets.”
