LONDON — North Laurel suffered its first loss of the season after dropping a 3-1 decision to Southwestern.
The Lady Jaguars entered the game red-hot, winners of three straight but fell behind 3-0 in the first half and never recovered.
“We dug a hole that was too deep to climb out of,” North Laurel coach Kayla Bargo said. “We did not start the game with the same intensity I’ve seen in the previous three games. I’ll give credit to Southwestern because they did bring the intensity from the beginning.
“I was happy with the effort put forth in the second half,” she added. “It was just too little too late. But like with any setback, we’ll take what lessons we can from it and move forward. Hopefully with a week until our next game we can get our full team healthy and have everyone available to go.”
Haley Combs scored North Laurel’s (3-1) lone goal as the Lady Warriors (6-2-1) managed to wrap-up their two-goal win.
The Lady Jaguars will have a week off before hosting cross-town rival South Laurel on Thursday, Sept. 12.
