Corbin improves to 10-0 with three-set victory over North Laurel

CORBIN — Two 13th Region heavyweights met on Thursday with Corbin remaining unbeaten with a 25-15, 25-22, and 26-24 win over North Laurel.

The Lady Redhounds kept their perfect record intact, improving to 10-0 while North Laurel fell to 3-3.

“In tonight’s match, we knew it was going to be a big game with a lot of offense,” Corbin coach Krystal Jones said. “We anticipated that our defense would need to step up in order for us to walk away with a win, and they absolutely delivered. I can’t say enough great things about the production of our back row tonight. Every single one of those girls showed up and kept us in the game when it mattered most.

“While it wasn’t our best overall performance, our defense was the key factor that gave us the opportunity to come out on top,” she added. “Hats off to North Laurel. They have some strong athletes, and it was a hard-fought match on both sides.”
