Through the air and on the ground, Corbin dominates Lexington Catholic

CORBIN — Luke Salmons’ Corbin Redhounds have shown early on, they can beat their opponents through the air or on the ground, and they did both during their 56-22 win over Lexington Catholic.
The Redhounds (3-0) tallied two touchdowns passes, and scored five touchdowns running the ball as they cruised to their 41st consecutive regular season win while the Knights’ saw their record fall to 0-3.
Cole Stevens got the Redhounds on the scoreboard first with a four-yard touchdown run, giving his team a 7-0 advantage with 1:49 left in the first quarter. 
Corbin scored again just eight seconds into the second quarter as Kade Elam hit Noah Cima for a 55-yard pass that went for a touchdown, pushing their team’s lead to 14-0. 
Lexington Catholic found the end zone for the first time with 5:38 remaining in the first half thanks to an 83-yard touchdown pass, cutting its deficit to 14-7. 
The Redhounds answered in their ensuing possession, as Elam drove them down the field and capped off the drive with a two-yard touchdown run, increasing the Redhounds’ advantage to 21-7 with 2:19 left in the first half. 
Thanks to a defensive stop, Corbin managed to find pay dirt once again as Elam broke through the line for a four-yard touchdown run allowing his team to take a 28-7 lead into the locker room at halftime. 
The Redhounds continued to dominate in the second half, scoring five minutes in.
Elam threw his second touchdown pass of the game, a 26-yarder to Eli Pietrowski, increasing Corbin’s lead to 35-7.
Cam Estep continued the Redhounds’ dominance with a two-yard touchdown at the 6:12 mark of the third quarter, giving his team a 42-7 cushion.
Lexington Catholic never quit, though.
The Knights added their second touchdown of the game on a nine-yard run to end the third quarter while making the score, 42-14.
Clay Akins’ one-yard touchdown run, capped off the offensive scoring for Corbin, giving the Redhounds a 49-14 lead with 4:28 remaining in the game while Luke Hatfield turned in a pick six while increasing his team’s lead to 56-14.
Lexington Catholic added a score with seven seconds remaining to cut its deficit to 34 points.
