FOUR IN A ROW: Williamsburg crowned 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic champions for the fourth consecutive year

MANCHESTER — The amazing season of the Williamsburg Lady Yellow Jackets continued on Saturday with them capturing the 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic championship for the fourth consecutive year.

The Lady Yellow Jackets (11-3) dominated their opponents, winning six of the seven sets they played.

Williamsburg defeated Jackson County in first round action, 27-25, 16-25, and 25-23 before handing Pineville a 25-21, 25-17 loss in semifinal play.

The Lady Yellow Jackets captured the championship with an impressive 25-12, 25-12 win over Barbourville.

“This was a total team effort today,” Williamsburg coach Dirk Berta said. “Super-proud of this group. It’s great for these seniors — Hannah Creekmore, Heidi Wiles, and Lorelei Coleman. Their entire high school career, all they’ve done is win the All ‘A’ Region Championship. I can’t say enough good things about them.

“We passed great all day today; Karina Nantz and Grace Meddles were a huge part of that,” he added. “Lacey Bray, Kylee Nantz, Presley Spicer and Braeleigh McCullah all had multiple kills today throughout our matches and at crucial moments too! We also had two eighth graders, Magomery Douglas and Peyton Taylor step up in a massive way today too. This team didn’t flinch when we faced adversity. Super-proud of the way this team accomplished and won a fourth consecutive All ‘A‘ 13th Region Championship. As always, go Jackets.”
