Corbin posts 2-2 mark during Capital City Classic

FRANKFORT — Despite not being able to have their regular season routine of practicing and playing games this past week to prepare for this weekend’s Capital City Classic, Krystal Jones’ Corbin Lady Redhounds still managed to turn in an impressive showing against some of the state’s top teams.

Corbin (12-2) posted a 2-2 mark during its stay, recording wins over Danville Christian (25-8, 25-19) and Marion County (25-22, 25-21) while falling to Anderson County, Tenn. (25-14, 25-21), and Johnson Central (25-15, 25-22).

“This weekend was a significant test for our team as we faced high-level competition outside of our region,” Jones said. Not being able to practice or play with the girls leading up to it definitely impacted us, and we got off to a slow start. “Despite the challenges, we were pleased with how the team managed to bounce back and regain some momentum later in the tournament,” she added. “We’re excited to get back in the gym, regroup, and prepare for Franklin County next week as we head into the 2A tournament.”
