LONDON — Two 13th Region’s heavyweights met on Tuesday with Oneida Baptist scoring three unanswered goals to defeat South Laurel, 3-1.
The win improved the Mountaineers to 10-1 while the Cardinals fall to 7-3-1.
Henri Flaegel’s goal gave South Laurel an early lead before Oneida Baptist came storming back.
“OBI is a great team. So I don’t want to imply or take anything away from OBI but we definitely played like a team that hadn’t been playing soccer for 10 days,” South Laurel coach Brooks Cawood said. “I was frustrated that we weren’t able to hold and build on the lead but once OBI put pressure on us, we had a very difficult time trying to play the game we want to play. We just have to work to overcome the events that have affected our county and get back to playing at the higher level we are capable of.”
