Corbin remains unbeaten against regional opponents, sweeps South Laurel in three sets 

CORBIN — Krystal Jones’ Corbin Lady Redhounds remain unbeaten against 13th Region opponents after upending South Laurel on Tuesday in three sets.

The Lady Redhounds improved to 14-2 overall, 8-0 against regional opponents, and 4-0 against 50th District foes thanks to a 25-17, 25-10, 25-10 win over the Lady Cardinals.

“Our team played well tonight, serving aggressively and showing strong defense throughout the match,” Jones said. “For the second night in a row, our front row delivered a big performance, making a huge impact. This win gives us great momentum heading into 2A. We’re packing tonight and leaving tomorrow, ready to keep this energy going. Go Hounds.”

The loss dropped South Laurel to 5-10 overall, 1-5 against regional teams and 0-3 against 50th District competition.

Corbin will now shift its focus to the Kentucky 2A State Volleyball Tournament. The Lady Redhounds’ first opponent will be Franklin County on Thursday,

After the 2A Tournament, Corbin will be tested early and often next week with matches against Madison Central and North Laurel.

South Laurel, who has now dropped seven consecutive games, hosts Whitley County Thursday before traveling to Allen County-Scottsville on Saturday to play the Lady Patriots and Tennessee’s Smith County.
