Lady Jaguars hang tough with Southwestern before suffering third consecutive loss

SOMERSET — North Laurel’s losing skid is now at three games after falling to Southwestern, 25-9, 25-17, and 25-18 on Thursday, but the loss didn’t keep coach James Hendrix from liking the effort he saw out of his team.

“Tonight was a step in the right direction,” he said. “We played a good team in Southwestern and pushed showed some adversity.

“Hannah Daniels, Taylor Hoskins, and Tessa Monhollen are starting to find their groove serving,” Hendrix added. “Baylee Asher has stepped up big the past couple games when we’ve needed good passes. And Liberty and Addison are starting to contribute more offensively. It wasn’t a win on paper, but I like the direction we’re heading.“

The loss dropped North Laurel to 3-5. The Lady Jaguars will be back in action Monday on the road against Whitley County.
