MCKEE — Darrell Hendrix’s Lynn Camp Wildcats picked up a huge 13th Region win, defeating Jackson County in the road, 28-16.
Both teams entered with identical 2-1 record but its was Lynn Camp that left with a 3-1 mark, thanks to key defensive plays combined with the running skills of DJ Wren and the blocking of the Wildcats’ offensive linemen.
Wren once again dominated, running for more than 150 yards on the ground while finding pay dirt four times.
After a scoreless first quarter, Jackson County (2-2) took an 8-0 lead with 9:43 remaining in the second quarter.
A touchdown run by DJ Wren along with the two-point conversion tied the game at eight apiece at the 8:04 mark of the second quarter.
Lynn Camp forced a turnover on the Generals’ ensuing possession and marched downfield as Wren scored his second rushing touchdown to give the Wildcats a 16-8 advantage with 5:24 left in the second quarter.
Wren’s third rushing score right before halftime increased his team’s lead to 22-8.
Jackson County wasn’t about to quit, though.
The Generals scored again with 5:02 remaining in the third quarter to cut their deficit to 22-16.
Lynn Camp followed with Wren’s fourth touchdown of the game, pushing the Wildcats’ lead to 28-16 with 11:45 remaining in the fourth quarter.
