Frederick Douglass snaps Corbin’s 40-game regular season win streak 

LEXINGTON — For the first time since Sept. 11, 2020, the Corbin Redhounds have lost a regular season game.

The Redhounds saw their 40-game regular season win streak come to an end after dropping a 35-14 Decision to Frederick Douglass.

The Broncos (3-2) broke a seven-all tie in the second quarter and never looked back while handing Corbin (3-1) its first loss of the season.

Frederick Douglass scored with 10:20 remaining in the first quarter thanks to a 21-yard touchdown pass to take an early 7-0 lead.

Corbin scored on its ensuing drive which was capped off by Kade Elam’s three-yard touchdown run, making the score 7-7 with 5:27 left in the first quarter.

The Broncos reclaimed a 14-7 advantage after Jaxon Strautman threw a 20-yard touchdown pass with 8:36 remaining in the first half.

Frederick Douglass scored on a two-yard touchdown run right before halftime to take a 21-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Broncos continued to add onto their lead in the third quarter as Strautman’s third touchdown pass gave his team a commanding 28-7 cushion with 6:27 left in the third quarter.

Frederick Douglass added another touchdown five seconds into the fourth quarter, pushing their lead to 35-7.

The Redhounds stopped the Broncos’ stretch of 35 unanswered thanks to a touchdown run by Clay Akins, making the score, 35-14, with eight minutes remaining.
