CORBIN — Lynn Camp had hopes of beating Middlesboro for the first time since 2005, but allowed 27 unanswered points, falling to the Yellow Jackets, 34-6.
The Wildcats have now lost 12 consecutive games to Middlesboro, and 17 of their last 18.
The loss dropped Lynn Camp to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in district play while Middlesboro has now won two games in a row, improving to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in district play.
“I’m proud of how my kids fought,” Lynn Camp coach Darrell Hendrix said. “We are a work in progress and we’re gonna keep working. There’s a lot of football left and we gotta regroup and finish strong. We have our bye next week which will give us an opportunity to work on somethings we need to fix.”
The Yellow Jackets scored right out of the gate to take a 7-0 lead but a touchdown by DJ Wren cut the Wildcats’ deficit to 7-6 late in the first quarter.
Middlesboro answered by taking advantage of some Lynn Camp miscues, outscoring the Wildcats 27-0 the remainder of the game.
