South Laurel’s Alyssa Siler advances in girls’ state tournament golf play 

SOMERSET — South Laurel’s Alyssa Siler is moving on to the final round of the 2024 Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac KHAA State Girls’ Golf Tournament after placing 15th overall on Monday during first round action at Eagle’s Nest by shooting an 85. Teammate Lily Barton placed 42nd with a 94 while Corbin’s Makena Myatt finished 36th after shooting a 91.

Siler will be one of 15 golfers playing for the individual championship. 

North Laurel finished sixth overall out of eight teams after finishing with a 399. Madison Central placed first with a 307.

Lily Kate Chesnut led the Lady Jaguars with an 88 while Riley Vickers finished 50th with a 99. Katie Gilliam turned in a 54th place finish with a 103 while Maddie Brewer placed 63rd with a 109. Ella Baker finished 66th with a 111.
