North Laurel’s losing skid hits five games after loss to Somerset

LONDON — North Laurel’s struggles carries over into Tuesday’s matchup with Somerset.

The Lady Jaguars never got on track, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Lady Briar Jumpers.

North Laurel (4-11) has now lost five matches in a row and will attempt to get back on track Thursday with a home match against Madison Southern followed with a matchup against Clay County.

“Somerset was just a better team tonight,” North Laurel coach James Hendrix said. “Kudos to my girls though for coming out everyday and giving their all. This has been an odd season missing 12 days last month, and then hurricanes taking a couple of games on our schedule.  These girls keep coming up and trying to get better.

“I’ve told the girls before that you can’t just watch the trailer,” he added. “You have to watch the entire movie. It’s easy to get down and want to quit when you’re losing, but fighting through that makes winning that much sweeter. We’ll keep working and keep improving.”

The Lady Jaguars dropped the first set to Somerset, 25-20, before falling in the second set, 25-23. The Lady Briar Jumpers wrapped up the win with a 25-16 victory in the third set.
