MIDDLESBORO — South Laurel received a huge momentum boost heading into next week’s 49th District Girls’ Soccer Tournament next week in the way of a 4-3 road victory over Middlesboro on Tuesday.
The Lady Cardinals (5-7-1) received two goals by Gracie Hoskins and a goal apiece for Morgan Taylor and Kenzie Hubbard. Lanea French and Hubbard also finished with an assist apiece.
“Tonight was a hard-fought battle,” South Laurel coach Jeremy Howard said. “Coach Mason really has his Middlesboro team kicking on all cylinders. They really played a great match tonight. We accomplished one of our goals that we have been trying to correct and that’s the will to fight and our girls played hard to pull out the win.
“We ended on a good note and this season has been a very difficult one with all of the injuries and losing players early on in the season however, these girls are taking a step in the right direction and now we just have to prepare for the district tournament.”
