WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County’s Dee Parker showed why he’s one of the best tailbacks in the state after running for 322 yards and five touchdowns during the Colonels’ 56-32 win over Scott, Tenn. on Friday.
The Colonels (3-3) scored two touchdowns early and never looked back.
Whitley County needed to get off to a good start and the Colonels did just that.
Dee Parker’s touchdown run with 8:36 remaining in the first quarter gave his team an early 7-0 lead.
He then followed with an untouched 54-yard touchdown run, pushing Whitley County’s advantage to 14-0.
Scott answered with a touchdown, cutting its deficit to 14-6 in the first quarter, before Cody Bryant scored with a touchdown run, giving the Colonels a 21-6 cushion in the second quarter.
The Highlanders cut their deficit to 21-12 with 7:21 remaining in the first half before Parker’s third rushing touchdown, a 21-yarder gave his team a 27-12 lead at the 4:32 mark of the second quarter.
Scott managed to find paydirt before the end of the first half to cut its deficit to 27-18 at halftime.
Parker managed to give Whitley County some cushion after his four-yard touchdown run increased his team’s lead to 35-18 with 3:20 left in the third quarter.
Parker continued to dominate running the ball, breaking free for a five-yard score, his fifth of the game, giving the Colonels a 42-18 lead entering the fourth quarter.
Whitley County continued to pull away in the final 12 minutes as Parker added his sixth rushing touchdown of the game while adding two more scores to secure the win.
