CORBIN — Another game, another win.
Luke Salmons’ Corbin Redhounds cruised to an easy 35-0 win over Letcher Central on Friday, improving to 6-1 while capturing their first district win of the season.
Senior quarterback Kade Elam continues to show he’s a front-runner for this season’s Mr. Football award by throwing two more touchdown passes.
Cam Estep and Colton Creekmore both had a touchdown reception while Cole Stevens scored three times in the win — all rushing touchdowns.
The Redhounds will be on the road next week with a key district matchup against Whitley County.
Corbin wasted little time finding the end zone.
The Redhounds took a 7-0 advantage with 6:39 left in the first quarter thanks to Elam’s 68-yard touchdown pass to Estep.
After a defensive stop, Corbin found the end zone again, this time Elam hit Creekmore for a 13-yard touchdown pass, increasing their team’s lead to 14-0 at the 3:46 mark of the first quarter.
The Redhounds’ dominance carries over into its third possession of the game as Stevens scored on a four-yard run, increasing Corbin’s cushion to 21-0 (1:21 remaining in the first quarter.)
The Redhounds added one more touchdown to close the first half as Stevens’ second rushing score, a two-yarder with 19 seconds remaining, gave his team a comfortable 28-0 lead at halftime.
Neither team scored in the third quarter but Stevens found pay dirt for the third time in the game with 10:04 remaining in the fourth quarter, increasing Corbin’s lead to 35-0.
