SOMERSET — Since starting the season 2-0 which included wins over both Bell County, and Whitley County, Steven Nelson’s North Laurel Jaguars have failed to find any type of momentum the past five games.
North Laurel’s offensive and defensive struggles carried over into Friday’s district matchup with Pulaski County.
The Jaguars (2-5) losing skid has now hit five games after dropping a disappointing 42-14 decision to the Maroons on Friday.
The loss also dropped North Laurel to 0-2 in district play with losses to Pulaski County and South Laurel.
Nelson’s squad steps away from district play next week and will host Taylor County before hosting an important district matchup with Harlan County the week after.
Pulaski County scored a minute and half into Friday’s matchup, and never looked back against the Jaguars.
The Maroons added an 11-yard touchdown reception with 6:12 left in the first quarter to take a 14-0 lead.
Pulaski County’s Cohen Finley caught a 46-yard touchdown pass with 8:45 left in the second quarter to make the score 21-0 while Toby Wright added a touchdown catch with seven minutes remaining in the first half to give his team a 28-0 advantage.
A turnover led to Pulaski County’s fifth touchdown of the first half as the Maroons led 35-0 at halftime.
The Jaguars scored twice in the second half but the damage had already been done, as Pulaski County picked up a 42-14 win.
