LONDON — Two goals apiece by Grant Abner and Reilly Stuber highlighted North Laurel’s 8-0 win over Harlan County during Monday’s 13th Region Boys’ Soccer Tournament.
The Jaguars (10-4-2) advance to Tuesday’s championship game against the winner of Oneida Baptist and Middlesboro at 6 p.m.
“I felt we played better tonight and controlled the game from the start,” North Laurel coach David Broyles said. “We passed the ball better tonight and worked as a team which led to early goals. We were able to get some younger kids some time and rest some of our starters. Now we have to get ready for a tough game tomorrow night.”
North Laurel scored early and often against the Black Bears as Abner’s goal just a minute into the match gave his team a 1-0 edge.
Jordan McIntyre scored four minutes later thanks to an assist from Nicholas Meadows, pushing the Jaguars’ lead to 2-0.
Goals by Collier Mills and Stuber increased North Laurel’s lead to 4-0 at the 20-minute mark of the first half.
Abner’s second goal of the match, one minute later, increased the Jaguars edge to 5-0 while his assist to Stuber, who found the back of the net, gave North Laurel a comfortable 6-0 lead at the 22-minute mark.
Meadows scored his first goal during the 41st minute while Chandler Hagan’s goal during the 55th minute secured the Jaguars’ eight-goal win.
